Dave is awesome even if he can't feel his face
Dave Matthews Band, the most unassuming rock star ever, recently appeared in St Paul, and I was fortunate to attend. Dave himself enjoys doing things like talking to the audience and introducing the back up band. That unassuming little rock star sure knows how to play that guitar though, and his band is nothing short of amazing. I have never been a big fan of the jam, which has always seemed unstructured and loose to me. The way the DMB plays it makes you feel like that jam has been rehearsed several hundred times. If I saw Dave at a little dive bar after the show, I would not hesitate to go up and start a conversation. While I would certainly tell him how talented I think he is, I don't think he would like to hear a lot of that. Personally, I had been feeling a little down with the new economy before seeing the show. That budgetary I should not have attended. Sometime after the band played for 5 or 10 minutes, I felt my spirit ascend and decided that as long as I could see this kind of talent everything was just kinda alright.
